Question about motorcycle disc brake abbreviations

OK, I’m doing a translation, and I’d be most grateful if you could help me understand a few abbreviations. The tire/brake specs for the motorcycle are given as follows:

FR 110/80-18
W disc brake

RR 150/70-17
RR disc brake

OK, I know that “110/80-18” and “150/70-17” are tire specs.

But what do “FR” “W” and “RR” stand for here.

My Google fu has failed me. I am in your hands. Thanks!

Radials.

Front/Rear.

Thanks. But what about “W”?

So “FR” is a front radial tire?

“RR” is a rear radial tire? AND “rear radial” disc brake?

Thanks for further clarification.

FR 110/80-18 = Front tire size
W disc brake = with disc brake (as opposed to drum brakes)

RR 150/70-17 = rear tire size
RR disc brake = rear disc brake (it’s common for rears to be drum and fronts to be disc on older bikes)

So a slight inconsistency in the labeling of the rear brakes but that’s it if I read it right, it would really help to see the whole ad and especially what the bike is.

MikeG,

I think that covers it. Thanks!

Radial Mount Calipers.

This might be what the brake designation is referring to.
