Question about MSN messenger

Every time I go on MSN I get pestered by this pain in the ass chick I’m kinda sorta friends with who seems to fucking live online. Now, I would block her so I could chat to my other friends in peace. However, I heard there’s some software you can get which tells you if someone’s blocked you and, if it exists, she’s probably got it. If she found out I was blocking her I’d never hear the fucking end of it.

So, does such software exist? Has anyone else heard any rumours about this pernicious technology?

I would be relatively certain that the flags for who you have blocked or not blocked is contained in one of Microsoft’s central databases. Anyone who could get that info would be both an amazing hacker and also looking at doing some major prison time if caught. Using any software released by such a person which could hack into MS’s central database would also be illegal–and I suspect would work for all of two seconds before MS shut down the servers and installed a fix before rebooting.

So, no I haven’t heard of such software and yes it may exist–but I highly highly doubt the existance from everything I know as a programmer.

Yep. There are any number of websites out there that can do this. I don’t know if the newest version of MSN Messenger can get around it with the selective Appear Invisible mode, but you can experiment with it and see.

That’s delete not block.

Well damn… How dey do dat?

Dunno exactly how it works, but if I had to guess, I’d say it uses its own login to sign into the MSN server and checks the online status the same way you can if you’re not blocked. Presumably, if you can find out what this login is, you can block it. There is also another workaround, according to their forum:
