Wasted a lot of time w/Google looking for reviews, and then on the Adobe site trying to find out one simple thing, whith no luck. All I wamt to know is which versions, if any, will work with Win98SE. Anybody know?
Am guessing that vers 4 and maybe 3 won’t, but how about 2.0 if this is true?
If 2.0 does, has it got enough features to be worthwhile? I can already do basic corrections with the free ULead that came with my camera, but would like to be able to do a bit more in adjusting colors, contrast, moving elements within the pic, etc.
I don’t know a lot about the newer versions (past 2) but I use it (the Mac version) and it’s fine for my needs. I’m sure the more recent versions have faster ways of doing things, but I think the basic adjustments are all there.
I should note that I also use The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements by Richard Lynch, which includes a number of additional tools, like curves for adjustment.
3.0 requires XP or W2K
2.0 will run on W98, NT 4.0, 2000, Me, or XP, so I’ll bet it will run on 98SE as well.
P.S. Google for:

As for your second question, is it worth it?
Yes.
I have both Elements 2 and PS 5. After getting Elements, my usage of PS 5 dropped from ‘always’ to ‘rarely’. There are some things I can only use PS 5 for (curves, CMYK color), but for most of my purposes, Elements is fine. I will probably upgrade to v.4 soon enough, cause some of those features are enticing enough.
