Question about pot

I was wondering how the chemical in pot affects the brain, does it stimulate our own chemicals or does the chemical itself affect us? Alcohol will get a person drunker the more they drink until they pass out. Pot seems to loose or at least dramaticaly lessen its affects the more times it is consumed within a 24 hour period, after the affects have worn out the process will start over and only the initial use in a particular day will have much affect.

Cannabis mimics the action of anandamide, a neurotransmitter found naturally in the body. These two compounds produce the effects associated with cannabis by attaching to cannabinoid receptors in the brain. I guess if the receptors are all tied up then that’s that, you can’t get more stoned.

The effects of alcohol come about when more is consumed than the liver can breakdown, and it ends up in blood where besides affecting certain receptors and channels in the brain, it affects many other mechanisms and functions. It’s this property which leads to one become more drunk as more is consumed - it just keeps affecting body function ultimately all the way to death.
