Of course we’ll talk to a lawyer but I always like to ask dopers. My 70 yr. old Aunt rear-ended someone in New York State. It’s pretty clear it’s her fault. The people in the other car all said they weren’t hurt but later sued for 4 million dollars citing various permanent damages, pain and suffering, desire to be overly-litigious, etc…
My Aunt has minimal insurance and is wondering if they can take away her home and contents if she loses. Can she put it into a trust for her children or something? If she does lose, would she have to file for bankruptcy to protect the house and if she does, will she lose it when she dies? Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks, KC
I know so little about this type of law that I have nothing to contribute, except to tell you to stop posting shit like “It’s pretty clear it’s her fault.” in public fora.
