That’s sort of like claiming that each tine on a fork is a new fork.
Anyway the point of my post was that it’s not really a separate canon given that it’s a direct continuation of established canon. In other words, time travel stories cant be considered quite the same thing as a true reboot.
Every TV series (and some spin-offs, like Titan and New Frontier) has had a book published in 2009, with other books due either this year or next. Star Trek novels are experiencing something of a renaissance, and have been for years. They’re heavily serialized with their own post-series continuity. When I stopped reading six or seven years ago, the Deep Space Nine series, in particular, was pretty epic.
So I wonder if Nimoy-Spock gave the Federation a full debriefing on what he knows is out there…
“So if you run across a 20th century ship called Botney Bay, just torpedo that shit. Trust me on that one. Oh, and then there’s this Guardian thing that’s like a portal to the past. But don’t go there or Harlan Ellison will sue your ass.”
I wonder if Talos IV has been discovered in the JJ-verse.
“Oh shit. I just remembered. I died for those fucking whales, and all of that has been undone. shitshitshitshitshit. Oh well, I guess there’s still time to ensure that Katheryn Janeway is never born.”
You don’t get off that easy. You have to watch ST:V with a religious fundamentalist and a rabid whig. And, you have drink tranya and eat orange jello whilst so involved.
Yes, they should definitely be pumping future-Spock for all the information they can. The technology alone would be of great benefit to the Federation. I’d accept if they said that he refused to talk, but it would annoy me to no end if in the next movie he’s living out a quiet solitary life in the Vulcan colony.
Wow. You got me. I was going to say that I didn’t know where I’d find a member of an extinct political party until I googled it and found this.
But your comment also leads to the other thing I almost posted previously. Old Spock needs to say “Remember one thing: God does not need a space ship”. Although I think that whole story line would be impossible because Sybok has to be dead. Well, that and it would be about 25-30 years in the future of the reboot.
But… life is NOT a dream …
How will playing cards help?
One damn minute, Admiral.
Your name … … … is Jim.
Ah. The Giants.
… remember …
I am endeavoring, ma’am, to construct a mnemonic circuit using stone knives and bearskins.
They are not the hell your whales.
Logic is little tweeting bird chirping in meadow. Logic is wreath of pretty flowers that smell bad.
If I were human, I believe my response would be: ‘go to hell’. If I were human.
Are you sure it isn’t time for a “colourful metaphor”?
Just look at all those wonderful quotes, now lost in time, like tears in rain.
