Slight hijack: Which comic is the 2002 film most closely based on? Because I once had what I, at the time, thought was a reprint of the original Spider-Man comic which had a story I remember as fairly similar to that of the film. But maybe it was actually a kind of reboot comic. The reason I ask is that the new Spider-Man film sounds significantly different and I got the impression it was trying to be more authentic.
Also is there any chance of a Spider-Man/Avengers thing?
Spider-man so tests my suspension of disbelief- like how the gossamer thin web has enough pressure to shoot through swirling skyscraper air currents for hundred of feet. And how is his wall climbing ability not compromised by the wearing of boots and gloves? These important questions must be addressed.
Also, while I have to admit that whoever came up with the webslinging method of travel was a genius, I’m not convinced it would actually be practical even for someone with superhuman strength and agility. I just don’t think that there would be that many clear paths through the city, even in Manhattan. I wonder if anyone has tried to plot any swingable paths in New York, or any other big city. How far could Spider-man actually get?
