I’m thinking about getting this shirt, but I don’t know exactly what it’s supposed to mean. What’s the significance of the phrase “sun, sea, socialism”?
Just to keep this thread interesting, I’ll ask another question. I have his double album Must I Paint you a Picture: The Essential Billy Bragg, and love it. Are there any albums of his worth getting that have a decent amount of good songs that aren’t on the compilation.
This is really a guess but is the reference to “sun, sea, socialism” made in relation to the Cuban Revolution?
I have six BB albums and just had a quick check through the track listings and ALL of my favourite songs made it on to Must I Paint you a Picture: The Essential Billy Bragg making it a GREAT compilation.
Have you had a chance to see him perform live? It’s well worth it - he won’t always sing in tune (and he’ll probably make that disclaimer at the start of the show) but you’ll be sure to enjoy his injection of local content into his songs.
