Duvet?
Why do guys like us need to know what a ‘duvet’ is?

A sheet or a blanket usually, but I have to have my feet outside too…I hate it when I make my bed and forget to leave the foot of the sheets loose! Then I’m in bed, but I’m too lazy to get out and pull them loose so I’m just kicking and kicking until I pull them out
Yep. Makes it that much easier to sneak up on ya’.
mmmmm… my duvet is covered with a flannel cover so its soooo comfy. If you want comfy cozy, sleep naked, flannel bottom sheet, no top sheet and a flannel covered duvet. Your room has to be as cold as possible too so you can really snuggle into your duvet.
I too have a duvet. it depends on how zonked i am. If i’m really zonked, I’ll go to sleep on my back, face up; if I’m very tired, but not really zonked, I’ll sort of gather the duvet into a pile and curl up with it against my front, fetal position.
At least one foot sticking out, and I tend to cover up to my chest, but not always. At least up to the waist. In this apartment, this applies all year 'round, since it gets warm here in the summer and the entire apartment building is maintained at a sweltering 25deg C in the winter…we often even leave the window open in the winter! If I’m really cold, I’d pull up the comforter, and/or cuddle up to my SO, who I believe steals my heat from me, because might get really cold and he’ll be boiling!
Generally, that can be a major problem.
Admiral-ible reply, Cheffy, you avoid the corporal punishment ususally metted out for petty offenses.
Unless it’s very cold, I always have to have one foot sticking out. And like VenusProbe, even if it’s very hot, I have to have a tiny piece of sheet covering me somewhere.
No matter how cold it is, I cannot sleep with my head covered. The sheets come up to my armpits if it’s warm enough; when it gets too cold, I pull them up around my shoulders.
with no covers at all if it’s hot, up to my neck if it’s cold. I like the room cool, and it drives hubby crazy, cause he’s always cold. So occasionally, I HAVE to sleep with no covers:D
For anyone who wasn’t paying attention, that was a Fight Club joke.
Re the OP, it depends on the weather. If it’s freakin’ hot OMG it’s freakin’ hot, I sleep uncovered. If it’s aargh cold cold cold, I pull the sheet and the comforter up to my chin.
Usually, though, it’s between those extremes. So I lay on my side, pull the comforter over my upper body under my armpit, stick my bottom leg under the comforter, and lay my upper leg on top of the comforter. My upper hip is exposed; genitalia go under.
What, I gotta draw you a freakin’ diagram?
Yes, please.
I sleep on a roll out mat on the floor. When I have to have the A/C on, iuse very little covers. In Winter, I often switch from nude to loose fitting sweats and a blanket.
Depends where I’m sleeping. At my house, I’m usually covered up to about my pits or so. My GF sleeps with a fan blowing on her, so I tend to cover up to my chin when staying there or I get too cold.
It all depends on the room temperature relataive to how I’m feeling. There have been times I’ve awoken to find only my body pillow on top of me (and my sheets somewhere off to the side of the bed), and there have been times when I’m curled up in a ball with one body pillow on one side, the other on the other, sheet/sheepskin blanket/quilt pulled up to my earlobes.
And just about every combonation inbetween… I just can’t seem to sleep without something covering my shoulders however.
<< Never lick a gift horse in the mouth. >>
Does anyone else wonder how the percentage of nude sleepers on the SDMB would compare to the general population? More? Less? Hmmm…
Oh, and for the record, it totally depends on the temperature: in summer just a bit of sheet across the midsection; the rest of the year it would be up to the chest, and on really cold nights the shoulders will go undercover as well.
It varies. When we have no guests, in the spring/summer/fall it ranges from no coverings at all, to just the “mid parts” to everything below the waist. However, in the early morning hours I usually cover with a sheet.
Winter, sheets up to shoulders.
Stomach…side…back…other side…rinse…repeat until morning.
No wonder I wake up so damn tired.
Damn…I just happened to have two sleeping threads open and posted to the wrong one.
Since I’m here though…up to my neck, unless I get to warm, then I uncover one leg.
If I’m sleeping without covers, I’m sleeping clothed. And even then I prefer covers. So summer, a sheet, otherwise as many blankets as the temerature makes at all possible, varying from all the way up but under my arms to pulled in tight and cozy around my neck. Multiple pillows, and a teddy bear. And feet have to be covered - tightly tucked in sheets are my friend.
I like it COLD in the room, but my use of cover varies through the night and also depends on if I’m sleeping solo or not.
Summer: typically a sheet plus A/C cranked up full blast.
Winter: sheet, blanket, and comforter plus windows open and heat turned way down low.
