Question for Painters (not Art)

I have a question about the plain old ‘paint roller’.

The ‘rolling’ part typically has two plastic ends about the size of the interior of the roller cover/brush, and then 4 wire springs between them that firmly engage the brush.

My question is regarding the function those wires serve. Is it just to keep the brush firmly attached to the roller, or is it also necessary to re-inforce the middle sections of the brush so they don’t deflect inwards when in use?

Thanks,

They just hold the roller. The roller covers are stiff enough on their own - I used to have some old roller frames that had two discs that went in the roller ends and there was nothing touching the inside of the roller.

Now that you’ve had a serious answer I have to ask–What do you have against Art? He did a good job painting my house.

Well, I can’t top that one.
