Question for the fashion-themed folks: Are they serious?

The designers just want attention.

I’m surprised, here on the SDMB, I’m the first to phrase it this way. But that’s what it is. Yes, fashion is art, and sometimes the purpose of art is to be so outlandish that you can’t look away.

Actually, Meryl Streep had a speech in The Devil Wears Prada that broke it down pretty well for me. I can’t quote it but the upshot is that no one expects women are going to start wearing the big grey dress to work, but that particular grey will become popular and blouses with a frayed ruffle detail will sell well.

Bra on Head guy is just baffling.
