Question: How much salt does it take to float an egg?

…and what would be a good way to test it.

You might could get you a liter of water and real careful like add salt till the egg floats, having weighed the salt supply before and after the egg floats.

Thanks, how about salt…table salt, rock salt, etc.

I can’t think that the origin of the salt will make much of a difference, but what will make a difference is the age of the egg.

So if you find out that a fresh laid egg takes Xg of salt in 1L of water, that same egg in a fortnight will require a different amount of salt as the egg loses moisture/gains air through its shell as time goes by, making it lighter or less dense.

very interesting…didn’t know that. i need to go find more info…thanks curly chick
