Are there any definitive year ranges for the designation of generations (i.e. Baby Boom, etc.)? I was born in 1964 and have seen it listed as the last year of the Baby Boom, but equally as the first year of whatever the next generation is called. Also, what was the designation before the Baby Boom.
Thanks,

From 1946 to 1964 there was a literal “baby boom” in the United States – more babies were born. As this site shows, there was a big jump in the number of births between 1945 and 1946 (presumably because so many men returned from service in World War II), and the rate remained high until there was a large drop between 1964 and 1965. However, the end point of the boom is less definable than its starting point.
Before the baby boom there was the World War II generation, and before that “depression era” babies.
