I’ve got some stubborn warts that refuse to die from freezing, so I’ve turned to using Dr. Scholls Clear Away Salicylic Acid application strips. Now the directions say to put on the strip, then go right to saying repeat after 48 hours. So, how long am I supposed to keep the strip on? Do I keep it on the 2 days? Because that would seem kind of hard.
Yes, keep it on until you replace it. If it falls off, just use another.
If liquid nitrogen didn’t work, I’d be surprised to see the little salicylic pads work, but good luck.
Used an aspirin and a band aid and got rid of wart I had for years.
That is pretty much what these strips are.
I had a wart that I had frozen, but it didn’t go away entirely. So I got some of the strong-ass salicylic solution from the drugstore and kept at it for another month, at which point it went away. To use a military analogy, the LN2 is like air power: it’s good for softening things up, but often you need something afterwards to mop things up.
I’m with MikeS - the 1-2 punch is the only thing that’s worked on some warts I’ve gotten (particularly on my feet). I used the take-home freezing kit a few times, several days apart, then started using salicylic acid (thick liquid in a squeeze tube) religiously every day. Scrape off the dead skin layer as it forms so that you’re attacking the actual root of the wart. When the “core” which looks black and speckly starts appearing, you’re making progress.
Sometimes it just takes time, but I always attack them when they appear, because I’m afraid they’ll start spreading.
I hate stupid warts.
Salicylic acid? I used conc. HNO3 with great success. Just didn’t overdo it. Hard to come by these days.
The Dr. Scholl’s salicylic acid treatment has taken off warts that the dermatologist couldn’t, for me. You just have to keep at it. When I was working on the biggest one of mine, I used 2-3 strips then stopped for a while. A couple of weeks later, a big circle of skin peeled off, and the wart was much smaller. Then I started working on it again. It took about six more weeks to get it completely off.
