If a realtor/building co-op board asks for all your financial info, and asks you to authorize them to do thee credit inquiries, does any back taxes you might owe show up on the report? Just to be clear, just a small amount a year or so old and is being paid off, so it’s not like the IRS is after me or anything. It’ll be paid off in a few weeks, but I’m just curious if that shows up or not.
A tax lien or garnishment will definitely show up. Back taxes being paid under a payment plan probably will not. (I say probably because there seem to be odd exceptions for just about everything).
Since you might not remember whether a formal lien has been filed, you might want to run your reports for yourself first, or call the IRS to find out.
Run one of your three free credit reports on yourself. Or, if it’s been more than 12 months since you ran any, run them all. Each bureau may report slightly different information, and it’s always a good idea to know what your credit history looks like.
