How much do blood donation machines cost (the kind that extract platelets and plasma)?
What’s a typical (hospital) charge for a unit of blood, platelets, or plasma?
How much does an X-ray machine cost?
Do different manufacturers compete, or is there a monopoly on hi-tech medical equipment?
If I had the money, could I just go out and buy some for myself, or do you need some type of authorization to purchase them.

There is plenty of competition
To use on yourself or others. IIRC you can do pretty much anything you want to to yourself, your problems will come up applying it to others and or getting your information looked at by trained experienced and licenced medical personell. If you started ESHT medical imaging out of your garage and started diagnosing and or treating patients you will probably end up in jail and or sued silly for a combination of fraud and or practicing medicine without a licence.
Although this brings up an intresting Q in my mind. Whats to stop me from hanging out a shingle saying Drachillix Medical Services and clearly stating there are no medical doctors that work here just a few smart folks that study alot. Medications would be a problem and insurance companies wouldn’t touch you with a 10 foot cattle prod but I do not know what other legal “requirements” one might have to fullfill to be an “offical” medical business. You could probably get away with some kind of “alternative medicine” outfit, but you still have many of the same restrictions.
If I am getting your drift here good luck getting a hospital to deal with you unless you have liability insurance in case you distribute some bad blood products. The insurance company is not going to miss the fact that you have no licenced personell on staff verifying things like proper sterile techniques for aquiring, handling, and storing those products. IF you somehow became a source of infections and or disease the hospitals infection control people will figure out in a hurry that all of the patients who got infection X recieved blood. They will have the lab (literally) go over the on hand blood supply with a microscope looking for that bug. If its in the ESHT brand blood, consider it the last blood they buy from you, and look forward to a call from thier attorneys.
