Questions about the effects of food on alcohol.

I know that food soaks it up and so If you’ve eaten before or during drinking you will get drunk slower.

So does digestion of the food eventually insure that the alcohol enters the bloodstrean? In other words will you still have had the same amount of alcohol?

Does the delayed or prolonged injestion into the bloodstream mean that you will be drunk for longer? (could digestion of food be providing you with alcohol many hours after drinking it)

Does water (large amounts) have the same effect as food?
