When the Mona Lisa was exhibited at the National Gallery how was it presented to viewers? Did they stand facing it? pass by it"? How close was it to those viewing it? Was there any connection between America’s foreign policy and the French government’;s agreement to lead the Mona Lisa to the US? Was the exhibition and future exhibitions of France’s national treasure (Mona Lisa) somehow an inspiration for China’s Panda Diplomacy ?
I think I read somewhere that viewers passed by the Mona Lisa at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. Not sure if I’m correct on that score.
Panda diplomacy goes back to 685 AD. So my question should have been whether the French were the first to take their art around the world.
I wonder if anybody has a reproduction of Mona Lisa hanging on their living room wall? Though it’s a great work of art, displaying a copy would be kind of tacky. Or not?
