Questions about the Olympus Pen EE camera

I won a last-minute eBay auction for an Olympus Pen EE half-frame film camera last night. Price, $50, with free shipping, and 7 days to return it if it doesn’t work. The camera seems to be visually in good condition; the seller probably just doesn’t know anything about it or how to use it. I am intrigued by half-frame cameras; I like the idea of being able to shoot twice the frames on one roll of film. I have one question about the camera:

From what I have read, it has a fixed shutter speed of 1/60 second. It has an auto-exposure function that automatically selects the aperture based on the light read by the selenium meter surrounding the lens. Is there a way to manually set the aperture?

Anything else I should know about this thing? Thanks.

Is there an aperture dial? The SubClub listing says you can set the aperture this way: “For flash use, the opposite side of the film speed dial allowed you to over-ride the meter and manually select the f-stop”

I have the EES-2, which does have an aperture dial, but it’s behind the film speed dial, so that’s no help to you. Plus, I’ve never used the camera.

Two things to be aware of: After forty-five years, the selenium meter probably isn’t going to give an accurate reading, and the foam seals around the film door hinge are going to be very dried out (on mine it’s just black dust).

Good luck.
