I’ve been binge-watching Rita on Netflix and am on season 3. So I understand the show is set in a folkeskole, which has the equivalent of kindergarten to 9th grade. I’m a little confused about the administrative hierarchy. The principal answers to a board of some kind, but it also appears the school is run by the municipal government (the mayor is in charge of their budget). So what is “the board”? Is it more like an American school board or a PTA? The school also appears to have almost daily faculty meetings, how can they have time for this and who’s teaching the students? Also in between seasons 2 & 3 Rita goes from teaching 9th graders to teaching 4th graders; is that normal in Denmark?
