A coworkers sister is deployed overseas and wants some of her bought and paid for DVD’s copied and the copies mailed to her as she is worried about them breaking in transit. Legal or not?
Maybe make a copy and send her the originals?
U.S. copyright law does allow back-up copies for computer software, but doesn’t make that exception for other media like DVDs. On the other hand, I’ve never heard of a copyright prosecution over making back-up copies for one’s own use.
