Quick! ID the "oh-ee-oh" disco earworm before we both have to shoot ourselves!

Morris Day and the Time: Jungle Love? Mid 80’s?

Just finished watching Jay and Silent Bob strike back…I feel so dirty.

It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night by Prince.

Falsetto, disco beat.

(oh-we-oh-ooh)
Say it
(oh-we-oh-ooh)
Say it louder, y’all
(oh-we-oh-ooh)
Say it louder, y’all
(oh-we-oh-ooh)
Miko, miko, hit me in the back with funk

And yes, the “oh-we-oh-ooh” recalls the guards in The Wizard of Oz.

If you don’t have it yet, what about “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire?

Dude, I bet that’s it! Good call.

Complete WAG, the last ~40 seconds of Cherchez La Femme/C’est Si Bon - Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band - 1976 (number twenty-seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1977)

Right era, disco, female lead, huge radio airplay in the day.

CMC +fnord!
BTW Ya didn’t answer Boyo Jim’s question, 'cause if there ain’t no actual lyrics, then …

You beat me to it. I could hear it in my head, and thought it was EWF but didn’t know the name of the song. I sampled a bunch of their songs on iTunes, but gave up before I got to that one. Good call!

Incidentally, before I opened the thread, I thought it was going to be about Lene Lovich’s “New Toy.”

I played the notes on a virtual piano and I think September has to be it because they match up very well.

Which is good; I was freaking out that nobody had answered this one yet.

Goose?

I’m sitting here crying. Seriously.
Because I’m SOOO relieved.
I don’t have to spend the rest of my life listening to it on the tape loop but never knowing what it is.
Bless you.
Bless you.
And now to the nitty-gritty: what the HELL is he singing? “Ba-de-ya”?

Humph. Might as well be “oh-ee-oh”… How on earth do they expect people to know what their song is called if they’re not going to sing the title? Like “Mandy”, see. You know where you are with that one…

And then there’s the “Blue Awning” song, but I don’t feel like getting into that right now, better quit while you’re ahead, is my motto.

According to this site they’re singing “ba de ya.”

I have the song on my iPod, and I can confirm the chorus as (phonetically)
Bah dee yah, someday you’ll remember
Bah dee yah, dancing in September
Bah dee yah, never was a cloudy day

Maybe you just heard the ind of the song, which repeats
Bah dee yah dee yah dee yah
several times

Well I never would have been any help because I’ve never heard that song before in my life.

What a great song…haven’t heard that in ages. Thanks Goose and Rocket!

DDG, seriously - oh-ee-oh? They are CLEARLY singing ba-dee-ya!!

Glad you got that all sorted out, tho

You’re welcome.

Hey, I finally made a Doper cry!

It’s the eighth word in the first verse, not to mention being part of the chorus.

Oh-ee-oh? Really?

Oh, well, at least we got all the way through the thread without anyone mentioning Rio by Duran Duran.
