Notice how the graph takes a super-drastic downward turn at the very end? Do you suppose the value really has dropped this precipitously, or could this be the result of the site simply not having received a value yet for the latest year?
Note the price was steady and below a million for the previous six years. What was the building occupancy then? Was it renovated? Did the neighborhood change?
With no information to go on other than the listing, I suspect it was renovated from an empty building into a home and the renovator wanted to scalp the market. When I look at the zip code, I see tons of condos for sale, at prices closer to the steady state of the building in question and not that hump value. That leads me to believe the owner is scalping.
What is scalping in this context?
