Quiz: What government type are you?

Republic
2 2 2
6 10 10

2 2 2 / 10 10 6

Republic/Democracy.

Not necessarily inaccurate. Fairly close.

I don’t think they have a word for what I am…basically, I support social programs like Social Security and, yes, even welfare. I think that the government has no right to tell me what chemicals I can or can’t put into my body, who I can sleep with and how I can go about doing it, and what religion I can practice. I also think that the government has no right to restrict the sharing of information (though, admittedly, this is within reason: if the government is planning a surprise attack, I don’t think they have to show me the battle plans until AFTER the attack is over–I only think that, though, because it’s obvious lives are at stake). Also, I feel that the government should support an environmental agenda, as well as watching large businesses for signs of corporate piracy and corruption.

So I don’t know what the hell that makes me. Hope it helps you!

Libertarianism! RIGHT ON!

2 3 2
7 13 6

how did you know???

Your Government type is

Martial Law

Huh. Figures.

Insecta, I think your test needs some fine tuning. There seems to be a preponderance of Commies, Despots, and Fascists.

My own numbers-
3-2-2
13-6-7

Fascist!

I’m Marxism.

My matrix:

 2 1 3
10 5 11

In reality I’m a Randist and a dyed-in-the-wool Libertarian, but this really isn’t a political quiz. More like a strange take on a personality test.

Now, I wonder what personality traits make me come up Marxist. How does this test work? Can I see the source code?

Because of the confusion indiciated by the OP, here’s a back-of-the-envelope set of definitions of the concepts used in the program:
[ul]
[li]Communism: Not a government type, but it almost serves as one. As you all know, Communism is the idea of governmental property ownership and collective labor for the common good. Communist nations tend rather strongly to be Authoritarian and either Dictatorial (as in Stalinist USSR) or Oligarchic (as in modern China). The fact is, Communist states have tended to stick together and resemble each other more than they have resembled other countires. So, strictly speaking, Communism is an economic type, in practice it has been a governmental type as well, or at least a strong determinate of a very few governmental types.[/li][li]Socialism: Not a governmental type, and not a very good predicter of governmental types. Europe has largely swung towards Socialism as an economic type, and yet maintains governments as distinct as Germany and the Netherlands.[/li][li]Democracy: The first strict governmental type on the list. Democracies are, really, any kind of government where the people can choose their leaders regularly and freely, and have a genuine say over what laws they live under. I don’t care about the Middle School Civics Class definition of direct voting as being the determinate of Democracy: It’s largely useless and always has been. Democracy means the people have a say, as opposed to the Authoritarian governments where they don’t.[/li][li]Republic: A form of Democracy. Republics have strong federal governments guided by reperesentatives delegated by the people of the administrative sub-units. The USA has been a Republic since the Fourteenth Amendment passed after the Civil War.[/li][li]Imperialism: Not a government type but a kind of economic system and a kind of foreign policy. Republics can have empires (the US and the Banana Republics spring to mind), as can Fascist states and Theocracies. Imperialism simply means that outlying districts are subject to foreign rule without being part of the state that administers them, and those outlying districts are economically dependent upon the central power.[/li][li]Fascism: Modern opposite of Democracy. Totalitarianism without Monarchy, essentially. Very rare: Only three examples, ever, all in the middle part of the Twentieth Century (Franco’s Spain, Mussolini’s Italy, and Hitler’s Germany). A spectacular failure by any measure.[/li][li]Theocracy: Religious rule. The first form of government, and the only form of government until the Age of Reason. Every ancient Monarchy claimed Divine Right and ruled partially based on religious law. That makes a Theocracy. Modern Theocracies include Iran, Saudi Arabia, and other bastions of Liberalism and Human Rights.[/li][li]Monarchy: Rule by a king. Now largely dead, but common through history. Commingled with Theocracy (which see).[/li][li]Feudalism: An economic system. Sharecropping, really, given the trappings of Monarchy and Theocracy. One guy owns the land (Lord, King, Massa, etc.) and a lot of others work it (serfs, peons, slaves, etc.) and give the owner the profits in exchange for (theoretical) defense.[/li][li]Libertarianism: A government type marked by a small central government, small local governments, and large amounts of individual freedom and responsibility. Libertarians believe that individuals can pick their own best path, and that people working for their own best interests can produce the best outcome for everyone. Ayn Rand individualists and Adam Smith Capitalists.[/li][li]Capitalism: Economic type, philosophically closest to Libertarianism. It’s based on the idea that people can do best when allowed to choose freely among as many options as sellers can provide. Historically, the most successful economic type.[/li][li]Plutocracy: An insult. It means ‘rule by the rich,’ and I don’t know of any time when it was seriously advanced as a government type. It’s what sometimes ends up happening, however.[/li][li]Bureaucracy: Another insult. It means ‘meaningless red tape,’ essentially, and is another thing that ends up happening to all government types once the government expands beyond a certain size.[/li][li]Anarchy: The lack of government. It’s a bit more subtle than that, however. There are two branches of Anarchy, in theory:[/li]a. Anarcho-Syndicalism: Communalism, with everyone working towards the common good in governmentless groups. The extreme of Socialism, and what Marx envisioned with his ‘Dictatorship of the Proletariat.’
b. Anarcho-Capitalism: Extreme Libertariansm, with everyone working for his own good in the ultimate free market. In this system, all governmental services have been taken over by private enterprise subject to competition and supply-and-demand.
[li]Marxism: An economic theory that was too nonspecific to ever be implemented. The theoretical basis for both Communism and Socialism, which shows how good it was at determining what kind of system it would create. Fascism was a reaction to Marxism, creating two equally distasteful options in 1920s-1930s Germany (and Europe in general, once it was widely thought that Democracy had failed). Most certainly not a government type.[/li][/ul]

Fascism
4 1 2
15 5 6

Sieg Heil!

Libertarianism

2 3 2
8 11 7

Sounds good to me.

For the first try, despotism.

Or maybe our hidden desires are being revealed.

Anyway, I thought I would be a Libertarian, Democrat or Capitalist.

My numbers were:
3 2 2
12 7 7

Best compatible government types: Theocracy, Fascism

Totally incompatible: Socialism, Communism

That’s weird. I would be completely against fascism and theocracy. I’m also against Communism and think Socialism only works for small groups (like 20 to 50 people). For me, Democracy would probably be the best choice, but I consider it a compromise – I don’t believe that there is an ideal form of government.

As for the numbers, are they the questions that correlate and are thus used to evaluate a person’s standing? The ones that don’t fit in with the rest, indicating the varying degrees of a person’s political philosophy?

Second time I got Imperialsim, with Republic and Democracy as the two best compatible government types, and the rest of them as “Good Compatibles.”

Hmmm…

Oh, and my numbers this time were
2 2 2
9 9 8

A triple post!
Sorry.

Imperialism

2 8 2
10 8 8

I am Libertarian, though I have no idea what all that entails and so I will have to do some research!
The numbers are 2, 3, 2,
7, 13, 6
I would change the colors… That red is incredibly hard to read!

Fascism

3 1 2
12 5 9

I thought I was libertarian (and the quiz on the libertarian party site concurs) but this quiz says that libertarianism is “mildly incompatible”

I hope this doesn’t double post, as their were some login details that had to be worked out. Anyway, I got anarchy, and I agree pretty much. It should also be noted that anarchy isn’t crazy pillaging and darkness and murdering, its just the absense of a set in stone iron rod of omnipowerful government! Oh, and I exited the window before I could get the totals. Anyone know any other tests like this?

another fascist here, oddly enough, pretty sure I don’t agree with that as I’ve always been slightly fond of the socialists.
my numbers were:
3 2 2
11 7 8

Anarchy

2 2 3
7 7 12

Best Compatible Government Types:
Marxism, Martial Law

Good Compatible Government Types:
Feudalism, Monarchy
Communism, Socialism
Imperialism, Republic, Democracy

Mildly Incompatible Government Types:
Fascism, Despotism, Theocracy
Capitalism, Nationalism, Libertatianism

Totally Incompatible Government Types:
Bureaucracy, Plutocracy

Well, it seems pretty accurate. I should add that I know pretty much nothing of these government types, except a basic outline which was provided by Derleth. I have always wanted to be a King though

Republic

2 2 2
8 10 8

A question. How exactly are you arriving at these results? I fail to see how sleeping in and preferring to vacation in Barbados determines one ‘government type’.

2 2 2
10 6 10

I got democracy.

In reality, I do believe in democracy. I also have libretarian/capitalistic tendencies.
