Kind of an interesting sequence tonight. Once I solved SHOCK, I had the K help with SLUNG/SLUNK. When I got SLUNG, that gave me a G to choose between FRILL and GRILL.

I came up with DUMBS to help with the last two words, and it ruled out all but one word for both of them. 
I wasn’t sure it’d take that word, but was glad it did. I looked it up afterwards, and I learned that it’s a verb and is a “third-person singular simple present indicative form of dumb”. That’s a mouthful.

FUNGI was to check Slung-Slump, and also to check Grill or Frill. I don’t know why I did that…I was going to just go with Slung and I’d have had it in 6, but even if I did Slump, I’d see it was as Slung and then would have Grill. Oh well…I’m good with a 7.

It’s D appreciation day. And Dumpy to the rescue…all was a fast solve from there.
Nice! That must have been fun…so close to a perfect score though, but even if it was a gimme to get your start words, with 16 words to solve, every bit of help like that is great. When I used to play that game regularly, I always went with different start words, and now and again I’d hit one, but mostly I didn’t…they’d help solve a lot of words though.

The #2 word was a head scratcher for me. I just was not seeing anything…I forgot to consider the E in the first spot.
Weird that I just used FUNGI for a sleuth word yesterday and it was an answer today!
