I like Crapes, so it’s common to me, but who knows if it’ll ever be an answer (it hasn’t yet). The way I see it is, if they include obscure or uncommon words, and they have often enough, almost anything is game. I will, however, prioritize the likelihood of this or that word being the answer. There were a lot of choices for both of those words…I ruled out the terminal E and R with my start words, so it narrowed things down a bit more for me, but unfortunately not enough.
In Sequence today, there were two words that started with SPA, and once one was solved, there still were a few more choices for the other one. I thought it was interesting they did the same thing in both games today with that.
The trap words can be tough if there are too many letters to check all of them with one word. For that _UILT trap, you can at least go with a word that has B and G in it, but finding one word that hits N, V, P, Z to be able to solve right away…no chance. It’s what makes this game challenging though, and sometimes the fun is coming up with a sleuth word that’ll serve me well, if not tell me what it is.
Just to correct myself…I was thinking about “Crapes” as in the thin pancakes, and realized later it’s spelled Crepe. I just looked up Crape, and it does seem rather unlikely to be an answer.
This could have been trouble. After my first three guesses I had two trap words, THUMB/THUMP and CLUNG/CLUNK. Fortunately, ABIDE turned out to be correct and eliminated THUMB. GAZER was a sleuth word with a G, and to locate A, E, and R in the other word. That gave me CLUNG and TERRA.
I feel a little lucky on this one. I wasn’t sure SUAVE was right, but it seemed decent (and potentially helpful) guess. And then I felt the same was about ANGST. I figured MATBE was pretty safe, and then more confident on PLUMP.
DUMPY helped with 3 of the 4 words, but I was hoping the #3 word was Thunk…that would have told me #4 was Clung (instead of Cluck or Clunk). Terra wasn’t on my radar, but I still think I’d have chosen Treat over it.
@Robot_Arm Well played with Gazer allowing you to climb on out of this one with an 8.
@chiliwillybing Nice guess with Clung…that saved you from having to face the dreaded red square!
Here I was feeling good for nailing Focal (and Lemon too!), but feeling a little overconfident with my luck, I decided to tempt my fate with the S_ORE trap too…not so lucky.
I feel like LIEGE was a bit of a lucky guess. It also solved the CLANG/CLANK trap, and gave me the G for GONER. Then GONER gave me TIAR_ for the last word.
