I made a dumb mistake with ALTER…the R was not in the last spot. I was really glad BUMPY helped sleuth the remaining three words.
@Robot_Arm I’m back…sorry about that - I needed to focus on a few other things and took a word game break.

Three ST words made this one a bit easier, though I was seeing several words for a couple of them, so I felt I needed to get CHOIR up there…good thing as I didn’t see STOIC at first. Lost the coin toss for HOMER, so no 6…but I’m good with getting this one in 7 guesses.

CHOCK - 6
BLINK - 7

After SHALE, I thought I probably had BLING/FLING, maybe CHOCK, and maybe POPPY. I played PLINK as kind of a three-way sleuth word. It gave me the K for CHOCK, and BLINK (which I hadn’t seen) and the P for POPPY.

Touch, while wrong for BOTCH, at least gave me the U for SYRUP, but that one could have been Spurn too, so I guessed well. And OTTER could have been Fetor, so I’m pleased with this 7.
Oops, just realized Spurn was ruled out with Touch - lol. In any case, it was a good game.
As far as I can tell, you still would have avoided a fail. The only other word that one could have been was Fetor (unless I’m missing something, but don’t think I am). And Botch was the only word that other one could be too.

Another slight scare. PIECE was a bad guess, since I knew the third letter couldn’t be E, but it did give me the P for BICEP.
Figured the last word almost had to be WOKEN or WOVEN, so I used EVOKE as a sleuth word.

It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a 6…that was a surprise. I swear I didn’t accidentally see your words! (see my previous post where I played the wrong game for tonight).
The first three words were all they could be, but then I was faced with Woken, Woven, and Dozen. I almost took my chances on Dozen, but I played it safe and went for one of the W words…wasn’t sure which one to go with, but just decided to go for the K. And bingo!
If you’re three possibilities are DOZEN, WOVEN, and WOKEN you have to play one of the Ws. If you play DOZEN and it’s wrong, you still don’t know which of the others is right. After WOVEN or WOKEN you know the answer.

Tough puzzle tonight. I had no greens after my first three guesses. At that point, in fact, two of the words were identical. I figured LIVER was a good guess for either one of them, and got lucky. Got lucky again with GROWL; it wasn’t right, but gave me PROWL on the next guess, and the W for JEWEL. And the P in PROWL gave me PERIL.

Strange game tonight. Didn’t have much after my three blind guesses. I thought I was looking two traps, at least; BRICK/PRICK and BRAIN/GRAIN. I guessed BRICK and got lucky. That eliminated BRAIN, so I went with GRAIN. That gave me what I needed to AGAIN. That gave me A___Y for APTLY.

Two 6’s in in three days…I’m on a roll. Solving PERIL first set off a chain reaction with each word helping with the next, but I got really lucky with the #1 word (LIVER) - I had four words to choose from, and instead of opting for a sleuth word, I decided to take my chances.
@Robot_Arm Looks like we both got lucky with LIVER. You had two of the words ruled out that it could have been (Idler and Liner), but still a nice guess.
At the time I guessed LIVER, I had not solved PERIL yet, so I had two words either of which could have been LIVER. In another situation, I might have looked for a sleuth wordbut with two possible hits I decided to take the risk.

A good lesson in delayed gratification. I thought one of the words was probably CLICK, but I didn’t make that guess right away. When I solved FAITH, I got a yellow hint on the F, so CLICK turned out to be CLIFF.
No spoiler blur needed, as this is yesterday’s game, which I didn’t play then. I’m up at the crack of dawn today, so I just set my system time back a day so I could play.
