I had a bit of a hard time with the #2 word…just wasn’t seeing anything. I then saw PRION, but I wasn’t feeling very sure of it. PRIMO should have come to me…they’ve used it before, but can’t complain about a 7.

A little tricky. LEAFY eliminated RESIN for the next word. I figured the last word was probably GLAZE or BLAZE, conceivably GLAVE or PLAGE, too. GLAZE guaranteed I’d get it in two guesses, and turned out to be right.

Was a little bit of a challenge today. Decided to see if I could solve without a sleuth this time, even though one would definitely help. FLAKE was a guess for the #3 word, and it told me what #1 word was, but it left four choices (Blade, Blaze, Glade, Glaze) - at least any one of them would tell me what it was…just didn’t get lucky is all, but I’ll gladly take an 8 for this one, as it could have been worse.

If I’d thought about it, I should have played GIRTH instead of BIRTH. They had equal chance of being right, but the G would have been more helpful for the other word still in play.
Solved it, so I can’t really complain.

Talk about getting super lucky…I was really surprised GAUGE was right! I had 9 words for that one, and I really wanted to play Gumby*, as those letters showed up the most in my list, but it wasn’t allowed. I then just decided to take my chances and went with GAUGE…I felt it’d check the most words. That solved GIRTH too (over Birth and Mirth). The other two words were all they could be, so I slid right on into a nice 6. 
*Afterwards, I looked Gumby up in Websters to see if it had any other meaning, other than the animated cartoon character, and the only definition was “a drum made by stretching a skin over a piece of a hollowed tree and used especially in the West Indies.” I’m surprised Gumby the character isn’t in there (I had one when I was a kid - lol).

Skin of my teeth on this one. EAGLE was wrong, but geve me what I needed to get LEAVE. Then I was looking at ODDER/ORDER and DOTTY/TODDY (and maybe other possibilities) with one guess to spare. ODDER confirmed two Ds for TODDY, and since I’d already guessed an L, O_DER could only be ORDER.

I went with BAWDY as a sleuth to check both the #3 (Shook or Showy) and #4 (Sable or Salve) words…was surprised to see it practically solve the #1 word, which I didn’t know what that one could be yet. I was left with Deign or Index, and glad I got it right to get a nice 7.

That went better than I thought it was going to. I was seeing the possible trap for the #2 word, but thankfully Power ruled that out, and I think it could only be ORDER. I wasn’t confident with TODDY but wasn’t seeing anything else. And then QUIET took me a bit to see…forgot about the U.

Easy one today. Though there were two words that are usually spelled differently (Sheikh and Nosy). Can’t complain too much though…always happy to get a 6.
