I had three words, and once again guessed the correct one last…did that in Wordle today too. I think I’m going to start going with my last choice first from now on - would be a fun experiment.
Regarding your Octordle Sequence score…I was thinking they changed the red square to a tiny black 14 so it wasn’t so glaringly obvious when we fail. I then realized we get more guesses for Sequence. D’oh!

Chase seemed too easy, almost went with cease, then thought of phase. I was pleasantly surprised when that turned over all green. But it didn’t help my score in the end due to dumb eater

The trap word got me. I was thinking maybe a sleuth word was in order, but I tried to solve it. I then realized I could fail if I kept going, so up went Emery to tell me what it was between the three remaining choices. I almost just went with Eater…I doubted Mater or Gater would be used, but then again you never know with Quordle.
Nice guess on going with Phase 2nd! It was just in one of the recent games…Octordle I think. I’m not a fan of Eater being an answer word…I think we’ve had that one before too, but it’s been a while.
Phew! My misses were Pound (sleuth word to narrow things down), and then Batty and Fatty…I didn’t even see Tatty. I had just one guess left to solve #2, but there still were several choices . I then scrolled up and was so happy to see the F from Fatty saved the game for me.

Summary
I saw the ATCH trap after my two start words, but it also could have been Yacht, so I went with Hatch to see, and yep…traperoo. So up went Bumpy to at least narrow it down a little - thankfully the P hit.
I think at this point I can pretty much expect to always get the two-choice words wrong. I even tried to go with my 2nd choice first (with Cheek vs Check) and still got it wrong. At least I’m consistent.
My brain was not firing on all cylinders. Not only did I stupidly go with Juice (for Price) when I had the R in yellow, but my next guess for that word was Niece with the ‘I’ in the wrong spot, and no R again. And then I missed Bitty by playing Fifty and then Kitty and went straight to Failsville.
LOL, I feel your pain. Other than the rare occasions like yesterday, I too always seem to choose the wrong one. On paper one should have a 50/50 chance at it and be right 50% of the time, but somehow it never seems to work out that way. Maybe we should try flipping a coin instead.
