I guess I should just be happy I didn’t fail. I didn’t toss any coins. I was just going with the first words that came to me.
Daily Octordle #631
Score: 59
Instead of tossing a coin, I went for a sleuth word (MIDGE), and that told me everything I needed to know to solve the rest of the words. I am familiar with Swash, as I do typography for fun. I also use the word in the context of water (like splash kind of), but I can see how it may not be commonly used or known.

Don’t ask me how I thought of Gloam over Allow - lol. And the O already showed it wasn’t in the 3rd spot. But it gave me the G for Budge, which helped as all I had was the E otherwise. I actually wasn’t sure Gloam was a word, but it came to me as I was trying to think of LOA words, so I went with it. Looked it up afterwards, and turns out it means “Twilight”, though it’s archaic. Now ya know…if you didn’t already.
Also, I think of Tepee as being spelled Teepee, so I wasn’t sure if that would be right, but I was glad it was!
Me too, Tepee just doesn’t look right

Snide was a dumb mistake. At least I got Bused right out of those three choices.
I was in the middle of playing #633 Sequence, and the board flipped over to the next day. I only had the first word solved (took 4 guesses, including start words), and then I missed my first guess for the second word (I put Dingy) and I was just typing in Biddy when the board cleared. I see that Biddy would have been correct, and also that Dingy was the #4 word answer. So I’d have had an 8 if I got Vital straight away.
My schedule recently has been such that I’m getting to the games too late - I’ve been having to hurry through Quordle and Sequence - I can still play Octordle after midnight, and I did try to do so yesterday, but I accidentally played #633 instead of #632, which I didn’t realize until I was posting my score up, and I looked at your spoiler blur, so I spoiled myself for two of the words - d’oh! I just decided to skip that one.
I did play #632 Octordle Sequence, which I failed (score 90 and two red squares). That was a tough one, and I guessed wrong on each of the ones with more than one choice (guessed Judge last of course too with Budge, Fudge, Nudge before it - lol).
I see you didn’t post up the #633 Octordles, but if you played the Daily #633, I got a 64 with two misses. I didn’t play the Sequence or Rescue.
Hopefully I’ll be back in the swing of things tomorrow!
I always do the quordles in the morning, so I’ve never had that issue. When does it turn over? midnight in what time zone?
I’ve been trying to do octordles throughout the rest of the day if/when I have time, but sometimes I forget to post them.

Not much to go on after Solar, which made this one a bit of a challenge, but kind of a fun one. I had about 4-5 words for #1 (didn’t see Puffy!), but they all had some of the same letters, so I knew working out that one wouldn’t be too tough. And I saw 4 words for #3. Guessing wrong on both of those words wasn’t so bad, as it gave me good info.
Good job on getting lucky with Tabby! That’s always a good feeling if you have a bunch of choices. For me, it was the only word possible at that point, thankfully.
Yeah, after the clock strikes midnight, it turns over. I’m on PST (WA state), but for each time zone, it turns over at midnight your time. What time zone are you in?
Wordle works the same way, and I have to be really careful if I play past 9pm my time, as there are some “early birds” who are posting for the next day already (either on the east coast or in other countries). I don’t even pay attention to the colored squares…I kind of look over to the right while scrolling up past the first few posts above me to look at everyone’s results for the game I just played.
I think it’s a good idea to break up the games and play at different times…I’ve played up to 6 word games in a row before and by the time I’m done, my brain is fried.

Score: 50
Because I was able to guess a word on my 2nd guess (Plate), I got the best score I’ve ever gotten. I solved another word at 3, and then I put my usual Choir in 4th, and then didn’t miss any other words from there. I got lucky with Funky…I wasn’t sure if Junky would be used…it can have two different meanings, but I didn’t really include that in the mix, so it kind of was a 50/50 win (Funny being the other word).
I just figured out that the later you miss a word, the better your score too…you may have realized that already, but I’m slow.
I didn’t know that either. I did notice that it’s based on something beyond just your number score, but haven’t been paying enough attention to figure out what that would be.
I didn’t think about junky having two meanings, but I’ve always spelled the other one asjunkie
I’m on the east coast, MD. I see your wordle sandwiched in between the current and next day’s puzzles.
I tired a few times to look at the previous day’s late poster’s results before doing mine in the morning, but it’s pretty much impossible to do without getting spoiled.
But then you have 24 hours before you’re doing that wordle, so even if you did get a glimpse of something I would think you’d have forgotten it by then?
I forget my own words half the time, in just the few minutes between the time I do the puzzles and then post them.
