I’m usually playing in the late evenings before midnight (PST). We started playing Octordle recently too…that one you can play at any time (there’s a previous or next day arrow to choose which game). And I play connections now and again…that one is fun for something different.

Thankfully I solved Nymph before Thumb, Thump, Thunk!
Well, aren’t you crafty
Nice work on the octordle, I didn’t even see that nymph/ thump connection.

I saw crony and went with it, only later did I realize it could also have been croon or crown. I did look at all the options for ra_er and figured it would be most quordlelike to go for the triple Rs, bingo!

Phew! So many _A_ER choices. Pudgy was a sleuth word for three of the words, and it helped for Crony, but not enough for the others. For the huge trap word, I hoped Faker would give me good enough info, and thankfully it did! Though it still could have been Raver, Waver, or Waxer, but I just felt Rarer was the more likely word.

I didn’t even see Clock…pretty sure I would have gone with that over Clomp. I often miss seeing the double-letter words, as the letter is grayed out on the keyboard, but I should have seen it regardless. However, I got a 50/50 right for once (between Floor and Flour), so there’s that at least.
I forgot to play the Weekly Challenge too. Just played and failed. It’s not fun to continually fail and get poor scores. I used to average 7’s, but I am lucky to get one anymore. I don’t mind a good challenge, but it’s just been a slog with so many trap words and multiple choices to choose between, every game. I may just pare it down to not playing so many of them in one day. We’ll see.

I hear you. A lot of the quordles for the past few months have had 2 or 3 words where you have to guess, is it A or B, or A ,B, C or D. I enjoy actually figuring out which word it is, not just guessing at them. And it seems the only way to get a 6 or 7 now is to happen to guess right. Which is not a test of your skill, it’s just luck.
I do like finding sleuth words and I’d rather take a 2 on a word than take a chance at guessing. Guessing is only fun when you guess right, the rest (most) of the time it’s just plain annoying. So I think I’m just going to focus on sleuth words, maybe trying to find some that will help solve two words at a time. And also consider 6 or 7 as awesome and 8 as my average
welcome @Robot_Arm !

Summary
Now that’s more like it! I changed up my start words to shake things up a bit (did same in Wordle too). I got lucky with Thing…had about 5 possible words I was seeing. Build was actually a sleuth word to help with Blush-Flush and Glide-Guile, and it gave me the D for the #1 word, so that was good. Though with just a yellow D and E…it took me a bit to see it (I sometimes forget about that W!).
@Robot_Arm Your three start words give you a lot of good info! Do you find that you can start solving without the 3rd one sometimes? Or do you just automatically put it up no matter what? When I used to play Sedecordle, I had a list of various three words to start with…I lost that list (hard drive died), and can’t recall what my favorites were though.
I was in a “mood” yesterday - lol. I decided I needed to shift my perspective and just focus on enjoying the process more, regardless of my score. I have enjoyed some games that I barely made it with. And even if it’s a bit of a slog…I prefer to know what all of my options are ahead of time (after my two start words).
Through all of that, you can still get it wrong of course, but sometimes a miss will help with another word too, so it’s not always a bad thing. Just wish I got those 50/50’s right more often though.
And I agree that the process of figuring out what the word is vs. just random guessing is more fun - sometimes I just wing it, but mostly I put thought into it all. And I’m not afraid to use a good sleuth word, as you know. I actually started making a list of them the other day (other than my trusty Dumpy) that I want to remember for various letters to check (I added your Kedge to it too ).

I agree…been noticing the “less likely” word seems to show up more, but sometimes I’m just resistant to go with it. For the first word I had 5 words I was seeing, and Agony pretty much would tell me what it was, so no regrets on that one. Going with Booth instead of Tooth, in spite of telling myself “I bet it’s Tooth”, gave me the B for Brawn, so I didn’t mind that miss either.
I pretty much use those three words every time. Even if I get a lot of hits from the first two, and none from the third, that third word still eliminates a lot of likely possibilities.
I suppose if the first two guesses revealed enough information to know all the words, I’d skip my usual third word and just solve the puzzle. I’ve never hand that happen, though.

Missed Words: Panda (sleuth word) at guess 8, and then Salsa-Sally…Sally? Other than as a name, never heard of it used in the ways Webster’s dictionary defines. If I suspected a Y in the mix for any of the words, I would have gone with Pandy for my sleuth word (if it’d take that word). Oh well…learned a new word in any case - lol.
Here’s a usage of “sally” some folks might recognize, albeit in the past tense.
“In a nutshell. And I thought to myself, “a little fermented curd will do the trick,” so, I curtailed my Scouting activities, sallied forth, and infiltrated your place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some cheesy comestibles!”
“Come again?”
“I want to buy some cheese.”
