It came to me later that I thought I had indeed heard of “sally forth”, but not sure if it’s used very often. For some reason, I feel like I have to say it with a British accent, though I’m not familiar with that Monty Python sketch (had to google the quote)…I’ve only ever seen The Holy Grail.

And this, kids, is why you don’t forgo your 2nd start word and try to solve after just one word. I was glad to nail Binge out of the three choices it could be though.
The other usage that I remember was in The Cyberiad, by Stanislaw Lem. It’s about the various travels of two brilliant engineers, divided into chapters like “the first sally”, “the second sally”, etc. In that case, I believe “sally” was meant to be a trip or excursion.
I read an English translation from the original Polish, so the usage of “sally” probably owes more to the translator than Lem.
I was thinking the same thing when value came up wrong. If only I had used my second starter I’d have known there was no U. But you really got snookered

Got lucky today, I think joust, quota and under were all the only common words it could have been.

Too many words to choose from for two of them. I didn’t get the memo that it was “low-use letter day” - lol, but that’s why I went with Froze, and I should have gone with Grove next, but oh well.

I guess so, unless one of your starters is an answer. Although you’re not as likely to get a 5 or 6, you do seem to most often get 7s, so your overall score is likely better than ours in the end.
I like being able to change my second starter depending upon what the first one hits on.
I didn’t even see that one!

Nice 2 on yesterday’s wordle @SeaSun
My goal is to have the longest winning streak I can get. I’m not really worried about what gets me the lowest score on any particular day, but what gives me the best chance of winning.
None of my starting words have been an answer in quordle, yet, but it has happened in sedecordle. I did have a case in wordle where my first word had no hits, and then my second one was correct.
Well, whaddaya know.

If you used the same words you do for Quordle, this actually spoiled the game for me tomorrow. I have a system to avoid getting spoiled in the Wordle thread, and in here too, but I wasn’t expecting a Wordle result post in here.
I’m not mad at you…but just for future posts, maybe don’t say anything about Wordle in here unless it’s well past the date where everyone has already played. Thanks!
I thought of that, but I don’t always use the same starting words in wordle.
Ok good! Congrats on the 2, by the way.
