That’s part of what I really like about this game, more times than not, there are repeated letters and or positions. Though there seems to always be one word that you can’t check all letters of the options you have (for example in today’s game, with the #2 word…B, G, and K were not in any other words), but that’s what makes it more challenging.

QUARK
This one had me jumping around a little. After plant, the top left was most solved so I went with that, but then after 2 the top right was most solved so I had to switch. For the final word all I could see was quark and Ozark and I didn’t like either. Not seeing anything else, I decided that quark not being a proper noun won the tiebreaker.

Yep! There is usually the one sort of stand alone word. If all you draw on that one is just one vowel then it’s often a double consonant ends in Y word. Although sometimes, like today, they all seem to mesh together.

Tubal was rough. On the plus side, I started seeing some additional strategies to employ. Starting with my second word I was looking to move all the yellows for all quadrants instead of just focusing on the one I was forced to work on. Still obeying my hard mode rules, just applying additional info. This also led me to favor words that checked new vowels, which I think helped. Not enough to put more vowels in my opener; I still think consonants are the bottleneck.
After playing this style several times now, I’m pleasantly surprised to have not posted a loss. I don’t think I’ve even posted a 9 yet, meaning “super hard mode” is much more winnable than I expected.

Today would have been a good day to go with Slate and Choir, which are two of my start words I keep in mind and have used. I’d still have gone with Adult over Tubal, and Marry over Parry though, but would have had a better score. Good challenge today though…a mix between easy (2 of the words) and ackkk, what words do I choose for the next two words…neither of which would tell me anything about the other.

HEART - 4

EPOXY - 6

I was a bit too aggressive with the double letters, going with start for my second word. I figured it would help place the yellow T in the other puzzle, but in hindsight it would have been better to guess heart even if that answer wasn’t heart. Too focused on trying to place an S, not enough emphasis on vowels.

I usually start with three elimination words, but i had all the letters for heart, so i played it. My third regular elimination word looked really good for the lower left, and indeed, it gave me epoxy and motor.
A search program still have me a ton of possible words for the upper left, of which i thought 11 might be viable answers. I picked godly because G & D were the two most common letters among those 11 words, and knowing whether an L was in the 3rd or 4th position would narrow the field a lot. Goldy would also have worked, but i thought godly was slightly more likely to be an answer word. I got really lucky.

@chiliwillybing We had a very similar game today. Same score, and almost same words as you. I struggled with the #1 and #3 words…didn’t have much to go on, except knowing what wasn’t there of course, but took a while to see both.

First off, turns out that rales is a medical term for a certain type of lung sounds, so I learned my something new for the day.
After 2 I had to change puzzles and then snagged a 3, which gave me hope of getting a 3456. But then the trap was sprung, which gave me worry that I was actually going to fail for the first time. Fortunately the next three answers were clear after 6. Phew!
Yes, we did, very close!

After the first two, i figured the lower left was shard or shark, and the upper left was probably whose or chose, so I went with my usual third word. That gave me whose, and super was easy. I still had no info on shard or shark, but shard eliminated some possibilities for the wide-open lower right.
And i picked gable because it guaranteed a win.
