Quoting an entire article

I realize that it’s not a good idea to quote an entire article onto the SDMB. Nor would it be acceptible to quote 1/3 the article in one post, 1/3 in another, and the other 1/3 in a final post.

But what happens if several posters feel the need to comment on one small aspect of the article in question, quote it, and at the end of the day the entire article has transplanted itself into the thread? Is that still a violation of fair-use?

If each citation was by itself truly fair use (and I’m not sure that quoting 1/3 of an entire article would be :dubious:), then a bunch of people eventually quoting the entire article in various pieces would be fair use.
