Just sayin’ how me and my friends learned of her. Obviously doesn’t define her career, but that’s when I really got introduced to her.
Sad news.
I saw her back in, um, 1999 and even then she was still a presence when she sang, despite her voice being past it’s prime. And always the inevitable cigarette.
I was still in elementary school – just – when As Tears Go By was first released. I’ve been a fan ever since. Broken English was awesome.
