Peter Matthiessen - author, naturalist, activist - has died. He wrote “The Snow Leopard” one of my very favorite books. I’m not a Buddhist, but I truly enjoyed his writings about Zen.

One of my favorite authors as well, both fiction and non-fiction: The Snow Leopard, At Play in the Fields of the Lord, The Cloud Forest, Far Tortuga, Men’s Lives. I liked the way he was able to deal with anyone from Caribbean turtle hunters to Long Island fishermen.
An amazing writer.
I am honored to have met him and been gently and playfully teased by him. He was a great man and will be deeply missed.
