I mean, I guess it’s bad that racists exist, and are targeting anyone, but Andrew Tate is stirring up the hornet’s nest himself, then complaining he got stung.
There always seems to be a bit of opportunistic looting and either undirected or misdirected general vandalism and destruction when there is civil unrest here.
We will probably see a call for tighter knife control. It was already being talked about before.

What seems to be happening now is that there are large-scale, peaceful, anti-racist demonstrations or counter-protests happening - and the turnout for these is vastly outnumbering the racist wankers. Hopefully this will set them scurrying back under the rocks.
The current right-wing line is “fascist police are locking up patriots just for saying that illegal immigrants shouldn’t be allowed to rape women and murder children”. There’s no basis whatsoever for this, but when has that ever stopped the far-right?

When riots and violent attacks are literally happening, anyome whose narrative isnt ‘just fucking stop that’ is part of the problem.
‘Ooh, but people have legitimate concerns’ is something to possibly talk about, at some calm and rational opportunity, but if anyone says that when the riots and attacks are actually going on, and especially if they dont say ‘stop’, then all theyre just trying to do is to legitimise and support the ongoing problem.
And dont even get me started on ‘but whyyyy are the police responding specifically to racist riots? Surely all riots need police response’ anyone who says that, on top of what i said above, is a contemptible moron.

There is a wave of xenophobia, racism, and fascism in the US, the UK, and most European nations. I have also wondered if Russia is behind it.
It’s always been there but Russia has been stoking it up across the West for years.
Perhaps not originating or inspiring them, but there was a lot of anxiety that a list of 30+ immigration lawyers and advice/support organisations had been published on Telegram, encouraging some sort of gathering outside them, with some speculation that Russians might be stirring the pot.
Now that the first sentences have been handed down, and there have been such massive counter-protests, it might die down, but TPTB are keeping up precautions:

News from this evening’s anti-immigration protest in Crawley (due south of London, half way to the sea). Per the local news reports and facebook, the protesters were outnumbered by… ice cream vans (two to one)*. There were also several hundred anti-racism protesters, who ate free ice creams and food prepared by the local south Asian community.

Two further men were escorted away from the area by police and were issued with a Section 35 dispersal order.
- which is why, I guess, local TV on the scene reported a single protester. So at one point anti-immigration protesters did outnumber ice cream vans. Just barely.

I went shopping to Weymouth today (a town that was host to some of the disorder and racist stuff last week) and happened upon a quite large group of anti-racist folks handing out flyers and invitations to a variety of cross-cultural music and food events that appear to have been planned as a defiant response to the gammons.
Originally, active, unapologetic racists were all over my usually MAGA-filled Twitter feed (because I debunk MAGA nonsense). They’ve since vacillated back and forth from those and the more disguised posts that make it about police overreach, saying they just have “differnet opinions,” and even saying they’re nonviolent and just want to talk.
But then they go back to saying things like getting deporting all immigrants would increase wages and lower housing costs. Or calling all immigrants criminals. Or even saying that Britain actually belongs to the white people who only graciously let others live there.
Its ridiculous. We all got here on ‘small boats’, or at least our ancestors did
