And they all advertise the same damn thing all day on every station. Buy gold, fix your credit, buy some herbal supplement, get an online degree. It’s like my email spam folder came to life and started talking to me. The buttons on my radio are starting to wear out because I flip around so much.
I am actually looking forward to the political ad season just so that I can listen to something different for two months.
We’re about to get a break from that. In a few months an election takes place, so we can look forward to hearing about every mistake each candidate made in his/her entire life, instead of the issues.
Unfortunately my car wasn’t equipped with one of those new CD playing machines since I don’t own any CDs.
In any case, I want to get the sports and news. I am just frustrated that I don’t get something different like Doritos or beer commercials. And I wish they were written by someone who sounds like they received better than a D average in creative writing.
I got an iPod. Folks complain they didn’t, until recently, have an FM radio in them. I did not see that as an improvement.
I’m not a music elitist, I just happen to have rated the music in my library and the ‘top rated songs’ playlist is like the bestest radio station evar. High Fidelity everywhere, no pesky ads, no peskt announcers…
I like to listen to the radio, because I have very eclectic music tastes and I can bounce from station to station. But I swear, they purposely put commercials on at the same time, so that no matter what you give up after flipping through all the stations, and end up listening to at least one whole commercial. It’s just a big conspiracy man!
About five years ago, I bought a DAB Walkman. I thought, “Cool! I can listen to digital radio on the way to work!” I’d forgotten how bad morning radio actually is.
And it seems like the radio stations somehow coordinate when they play commercials; I have 2 classic rock stations near me that both play commercials at the same time. (As Ninja Lauren just said!)
I love my iPod. But the problem with that is finding/hearing new music.
Go to accuradio.com and check out their quite extensive lists of genres. Listen to music via them for a few days. I like Alternative Now!, mymvy, and the Future Perfect “stations”. If you like standard AC or Top 40 you can find it there, too.
Of course, you can’t listen in your car, but you can at work and at home!
