raising fish

Ever raise a fish in a barrel? Heard someplace about a guy in kentucky who raised catfish that way. How about Bluegill etc. How long a growing season would it take?

In Wisconsin you can keep game fish in a live tank, but the container must have the person’s name and address attached at all times. You can never keep over your daily limit for that variety of fish, and you have to have a current fishing license.

A fish will take a couple of years at least to be an ediable size.

Years ago a fish and game warden gave my fiancee a baby pike. We had about a dozen fresh water fishtanks then and put the pike in the biggest tank. The thing grew and grew and grew - it would snap feeder fish in two like a shark. Eventually it got so big we were afraid it would die in there despite almost daily water changes, and it was cruel to the fish, so we planned to smuggle it into the St. Lawrence river via a cooler. Sadly, it died before the Great Escape. The thing was big enough to eat, but we did NOT do that; it was buried under a bush and made great fertilizer.
