That was a fun episode, but it’s worrisome that they brought a character back from the dead. I hope it doesn’t mean they’re running out of story ideas. It’s bound to happen though, especially with a wacky show like this.
Yeah, I was less than pleased with how they handled their decision to resurrect Lucy Carlyle. I would like season 3 to be madcap wacky hijinks and adorable malapropisms, thank you. If I want drama, I’ll go watch Glee or Private Practice or whatever.
Sepinwall says the producers didn’t know when they filmed these last two episodes whether or not the show would be renewed, so it was intended as a retrospective, bringing back all those characters from past episodes. If I look at it that way, it’s less disappointing.
I watched the show regularly for, oh, the second half of the first season. It never seemed to rise above “amusing but trying too hard to be wacky.” I gave up on it, but after seeing all the love here maybe I’ll try it again.
Some of the wackiness is a bit strained, but most of it comes naturally from the characters. It’s definitely not a show that can be compared with reality and nitpicked that way. Although I did find myself hoping that the Chances’ lawyer would find a way to get Lucy to talk about her past, so she’d “open the door”.
It’s funny, I was watching it today and it caught my little girl’s attention. She saw killer-mama going after girlfriend with the knife and I reassured her that it would be okay. BAM. Oops. The look of shock on my daughter’s face…wow.
It’s okay baby, it was just a joke. It didn’t really happen. They’re just pretending! It’s like the coyote…you know, The Road Runner? No? Um…Tom and Jerry? Never saw that one either?
Anyway, loved this episode as much as every other. It’s coming back right?
…and now that she is dead, and was still married to Jimmy when she died, he now inherits all of her money? Could make for an interesting new season - the rich Chance family…
One thing that surprised me (it’s possible I missed it) was that they didn’t have a better lawyer. You’d think Sabrina would have offered to put up money for one.
Yeah, but that’s their lawyer, f-Ed up dysfunctional and sorta secondhand, just like everything else in their lives. It’s zany.
When serial killer mom got out of the car and Sabrina took flight, I though SKM would fall on her blade samurai style. They so set up for it, I wonder why they didn’t take the punchline?
