Raising Hope - FOX Comedy Series Worth Watching!

There was just enough evil in this week’s episode to keep it from being sappy. Earl was often like that too.

Nice how it all worked out. The grocery store manager* got his doll and the church got their organ fixed. And Bert didn’t let Mamaw die. It was close though!

Another Earl alumna (alumnae?) but I don’t remember what Earl did to him.

One alumnus, two alumni. (Unless you’re specifying the female forms, but those are obsolete. The male terms have become unisex.)

They could probably restore their profit if they stocked up on some snot cartridges.
Was that the grossest doll or what?

Have to wonder about the sermon and/or minister at that church if that’s a sample of the conversations and attitudes immediately after the service. “Don’t keep her on such a tight leash.” and the whole conversation between the church bitch and the mom. Wow. And a Merry Christmas to you too.

Christmas episode had lots of quick bits that were very funny.
I laughed when I saw the sign in front of the church that day:
“Don’t Make Me Come Down There! - God”

And how can you not love that set up for Baby Sneezes…

I had two years of high school Latin, and this finally came to me as I lay awake last night, wondering where I went wrong.

I was surprised that the Chances were in church!

I had to pause it for a minute because I was laughing so hard at Jimmy using the nutcracker. It was funny mostly because they didn’t make a huge deal out of it or have any character mention it.

I presume you meant Jonathan Slavin, who was more recently on the dearly departed Better off Ted. On Earl he was Joy’s deaf lawyer’s translator. Don’t recall if Earl had to make up something for him though.

There was a really short interview with Garret Dillahunt (Burt) and Martha Plimpton (Virginia) in Entertainment Weekly about a month ago. Dillahunt made a connection between him and Plimpton that hadn’t occurred to me before:

“We’ve been in each other’s orbit for decades. Keith Carradine is her father. I killed him on Deadwood. It’s weird.”

Yes. It was absolute perfect – comic writing at its best. It was there in plain sight all along, yet when it came time for the joke, it was a complete surprise.
