Did you notice that the supermarket manager was played by the same actor who played Kenny in My Name is Earl? (Kenny was the closeted gay copy store employee who was Earl’s project in the first episode.)
I wasn’t planning on watching, but whatever was on beforehand that I DVRd caught the first 5 minutes or so and I found myself enjoying it. So maybe I’ll catch it for reals next week.
I only watched this show because it got its own thread here…and it was actually better than I thought. It sounded to me like they were just gonna brush off the Holding The Baby pilot script again, but the fact that there wasn’t a laugh track gave me better hopes. This show feels A LOT like My Name is Earl, and hopefully they won’t end up sending the main character to prison after 2 years and ruin it. I’ll keep watching for now…I hope teenage mom is a recurring character, because she’s cute as hell.
And for the love of god, enough with the stupid tshirts. I hope this doesn’t become a recurring gimmick.
I liked it. I’ve always had a thing for Martha Plimpton, and Martha Plimpton as a grandmother is so freaky it’s almost hot. She was pregnant with Jimmy at 15, so how old could her character be- 33?
They made several references to “20 years ago,” so I think the baby daddy is supposed to be 20. Which would make Martha Plimpton’s character 35 or 36, 4 years younger than she actually is.
I’m also a proud DVR owner and couldn’t recall which show it happened to come after. Although I should have realized - the reason I had 5 minutes worth of RH was because last year I programmed Glee to record an extra five minutes because the end kept getting cut off. But I forgot all about that.
I lost it when Burt was helping to change Hope’s diaper, adjusted her to get the angle right and just as he was about to squeeze the hose nozzle, the cops showed up.
Then he goes palms up on the homeowner. “You could have just come to us. Tattle tale!”
I’m really starting to like this show. There were a few laugh out loud moments. One of the things I really like about this show is yeah, the parents aren’t the best parents in the world, but they actually really like eachother. The mom and dad really care for the son, but they’re just stupid. It’s nice to have a family not bicker all the time.
