It’s about trying to make you feel special so that you will spend some of your hard earned dough on what you beleive to be a bargin. It’s a scam; RL is so overpriced that they can sell at 1/3 cost and still make a profit.
No, I heard you are spirited away to some fantastical desert paradise where there are naught but a dazzling array of beautiful buxom women, and naught but lavishly furnished yachts floating on naught but the most shimmering of turquoise waters, where naught but the finest champagnes flow, and there is naught but a 15-20% discount on imperfect articles of clothing.
I’ve been to some in Korea. Here, you have to bring your invitation along with you or they won’t let you in. You get bigger discounts than their usual sales. It’s a marketing ploy to get their customers to feel special (and to get you hooked on their products). If you go late most of the nice stuff is already gone. But it’s worth a look anyway.
You go early, there are some good sales. You’re in with a bunch of people in the exact same socioeconomic situation as yourself. They likely have the same family structure/size and live in a neighborhood similar to or the same as yours. And you’re all grouped by how much you’ve spent the past year. It’s not terribly exciting, but depending on how much you spent and how RL tiers them will depend on how “exclusive” it feels. And if they’re doing it right, they’ll attempt to upsell you on stuff that’s “new” and not on sale.
