Looks like Ralphie boy hasn’t learned his lesson, and CNN says that he is considering running again in 2004.
Egotistical fuckwad, does he not realize that the division in this country is so close that a third-party run will only serve to give Bush a second term. If Nader really wants to help this country, he needs to get behind the Democrats who actually have a chance to win! Quixotic boutique candidacies are adorable, but not when the stakes aare so damned high.
What makes you think he wants to help the country? He wants to have a voice in the body politic, and that is his primary motive. Of course, people don’t have to vote for him, you know.
He’s an egomaniac that doesn’t realize that time has passed him by. He’s a child sitting in the corner screaming “Play with me, I don’t care what it messes up.”
Of course, he could also be one of the idiots that want things to be bad under the Pubbies, thinking that people will turn to the Greens in response. Sure thing.
I think, this time people who supported him last time understand and get what will happen.
Lots of my acquaintances told me last time they were “holding their noses and voting Gore”.
I finally understand why, I didn’t then.
Hopefully, others will also understand.
I can’t imagine he’d be stupid enough to run, really.
If so, he’ll get .0003 percent of the vote.
Just another ridiculous progressive, who can’t understand that a key component of a democratic system is compromise. If all you do is stand in your corner and demand everything, you’ll never get anything of what you want.
I agree with a lot of the Green Party’s goals, but if his antics lead to another four years of this war BS, I’m going to seriously rethink my affiliations.
Pursuing the goal of shaking up the two-party system is a noble cause. Noble as the cause may be, however, to him and his ilk, the priority should be getting rid of Bush, not seizing power.
Nader running again would do nothing but prove the point that he doesn’t give two shits about this country. It’s a move that would be at the height of selfishness and egotism.
And to anyone who would vote for him (again or not)…I have no words. Just fucking vote for Dubya.
Well, I’ll own up. I voted for him last time, though it didn’t make a difference… my state was a fairly solid Gore state anyway. I just couldn’t hold my nose for that long.
Anyway, if Nader runs again, I won’t be voting for him again. I’ve developed a remarkable tolerance for stink over the last three years, and I have a liking for Dean anyway. If Dean does indeed get the Democrat nomination, and doesn’t screw up (as Gore did in 2000) between now and then, Dean’s handily got my vote.
And I agree that it’s remarkably thick-headed for Nader to be thinking of running again. That alone makes me lose much of the respect I once had for him.
I have to agree that if Nader runs again, it’s all about his ego and nothing else. I think it also shows a lack of substance in the Green Party as well. If they were using the presidential campaign to raise awareness for their candidates for state and local offices, then it would be a different story. They need to focus on races they can win if they’re serious about building a party, as opposed to going for almost PETA-like attention grabs. Although I sympathise with many of the Green Party’s goals, I certainly won’t be voting for Green Party candidates any time soon.
Don’t give in two the two party machine! Come on people! Things will never change if we don’t stand up and fight! Nader can do it this time, but he needs your support.
Having bathed in the depths of neocon scummery for the past three years, I can’t help feeling that old Ralph is in line for his own half-hour episode of Hatchet Job: American Style.
That guy has been around and among enough people of ill repute that a very brief examination of his record should provide enough push to make the coriolis effect take over and send him straight down the shitter.
I say schedule him with an interview with Connie Chung and have her hell-spawned husband write the questions. Hell, if Newt Gingrich can do it to Bill Paxon… oh, hell, let’s go straight to Godwin, here: “All revolutions devour their own children.” --Ernst Rohm
Hell, he even gives the Greens a bad name. I don’t like the Green Party, but I think they deserve to be more than spoilers working at Ralphie-boy’s personal whim.
All we can hope for is some far-right candidate who will siphon off votes from Bush. You know, someone who’s opposed to runaway deficit spending, opposed to overseas military adventurism, and opposed to granting too many intrusive powers to the government. You know, a Republican.
