I went to school in Dearborn, Michigan, one of the largest Muslim areas outside the middle east. Many folks in Dearborn do use the times of Mecca even when the sundown is not so bad around here. I thought that was kind of a common thing.
In another 18 years or so, Ramadan will be in December instead of July. Would they stay consistent and follow the Mecca times even then, or switch to the more convenient local times?
(No offense intended, I’m just curious how Islamic law is applied to changing situations.)
