Random TV program sightings of uncredited actors

I just saw a Dragnet episode that had OJ Simpson in it. He had one line, wherein he asked if police exams were tough. Also in that same episode was Samuel L Jackson, although he did not have a speaking role. Neither was credited.

In an episode of “The Fugitive” (the original series), I spotted Angelo Rossitto. The name might not be familiar, but he had a 50+ year movie career as Hollywood’s resident “midget-at-large.” His best knows roles were in “Freaks,” where I think he was the one leading the macabre “Gooble, Gobble” chant, and in “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome,” in which he played “the little man with the knowin’s of a lotta things.”

In this “Fugitive” episode, there is a passing street scene of a newsstand, and the person running it was definitely Angelo Rossitto. It was just a passing scene, and he had no lines. According to IMDB, Rossitto never made enough money to support himself as an actor (despite his long career), so his “day job” was guess what??? Running a newsstand.

OK. Enough obscure TV trivia for now.

In “Star Trek III: The Search For Spock,” George Takei (Sulu) was so taken by the costumes created for the Vulcans that he asked and received permission from director Leonard Nimoy to wear one (with his face hooded) as a member of the Vulcan crowd lining the steps of Mount Seleya as Spock’s body was carried up.

The scene was cut from the final movie, though a “Little Vulcan Girl” or somesuch from the scene was still credited. Reportedly, the scene involved a very small child running over to look at Spock’s body, then flashing him the “V” finger salute.

Kevin Costner plays the corpse at the beginning of “The Big Chill” and did film a flashback sequence which was subsequently cut. I don’t think he received on-screen credit for his stiff acting. Sorry.
