That’s a pretty amazing stat. Considering it also says he’s been in the music biz 20 years, that means he’s worked on one gold or multi-platinum albums every week (on average).
Now, he was VP of A&R at Columbia for 8 years, and Sr. VP of A&R at MCA for another 4, and in that role, he musta touched a lot or stuff, but still.
Anyone have any more info on this? Is this just another way of saying in the 12 years he was responsible for A&R at Columbia and MCA, they produced over a thousand big sellers? Or is there something more real here?
One obvious issue I see is that elsewhere on that page it also says: “His contributions have helped to sell over 200 million albums worldwide.” A gold album sells 500,000 copies. So a thousand of them is 500 million, at the very least. (Which is more than 200 million.)
