So, I had this problem where my bicep muscle was getting pinched in my rotator cuff. Hurt like a bitch so I went and did physio, icing, etc. It got all better and I was smart enough to prevent it from happening again (which mostly resolves around actually putting my arm on my chair’s armrest while I use a computer).
Damned if it’s not back all of a sudden and just as bad as it was at its worst. Seriously, I didn’t do anything bad!
Somebody told me the other day that as of the latest sampling, 76% of the mosquitoes in the county are carrying West Nile. With the wet spring we had and all the standing water and now the heat and humidity, there’s going to be a lot of skeeters around. Methinks it’s going to be a miserable summer.
Lacuna and Purple - you’re reacting now to the stress of what happened before because you no long need to be the only one holding everything together.
Delayed reactions like these are normal in strong people because even though you can power through when you need to, it really does only delay the reaction your body and mind need to occur. You can postpone it but it will get you at some point. You’re just strong enough to wait until there is someone else to pick up the pieces for the few hours you need to collapse for.
The men in your lives will have trouble with this because not only is it something they can’t fix, they feel like it’s something they’ve caused so be gentle when you explain that just being there and letting you react is all you need from them.
The good news? The HPV vaccine works. The bad news? Fifty thousand American girls will die because their parents are too fucking stupid to get them vaccinated.
Fuck every single parent who would rather let their daughter develop fatal cervical cancer than get the vaccine.
We don’t do it that way here in the US, sadly. Kids go to their doctor, and just about anyone can claim it’s “against their religion” and get out of vaccines. (Assholes.)
Rant and anti rant all together: I have been watching the news about the fire in Prescott. Its burning about 3 miles away from my old (primary) warehouse, I know the area well and have friends who live there.
It started around 11am and grew to 5000 acres by 7pm. Hundreds of homes have been evacuated, this could be a major disaster.
Idiot me has also been reading the blogs. So many people are so busy blaming gun owners for the fire that the many, MANY offers to take displaced people, pets and live stock into their homes are being overwhelmed.
Just stop with the blaming everyone you don’t like for the fire starting, and let those people who post things like “I am young and have a strong back. I have a 4X4 pickup and a trailer. I’ll do anything I can to help contact info” be seen!
So, grrrr at the flipping idiots who just have to blame everyone from the Prez to the homeless. Just shut up and let the important stuff be seen.
As a side note, I learned about this when one of my friends called me about noon yesterday and asked if she could bring her 2 horses, 2 dogs and 4 cats to our unfurnished AZ house. I was worried because the fences are only 3 feet tall, but she said that most fixed horses won’t jump fences unless they need water. I have also learned that Tony loves horses and has groomed them almost hairless.
My former stepdaughter posted a link on FB about how the creator of the HPV vaccine has come forward and admitted it doesn’t work, wasn’t fully tested, and is doing more hard than good. This was posted a few days after a post where she admitted she hadn’t vaccinated her newest baby (six months old; she did vaccinate her other three kids), and was really not sure if she wanted to. I responded with multiple links and a plug for your book, but I just don’t know if she’s already fallen too far down the rabbit hole. :smack:
A former friend, with whom I had a spectacularly horrific falling out that took me the better part of two years to get over, got back in touch with me unexpectedly via LinkedIn. It’s been… almost nine years since we’ve talked. I responded noncommittally, but I can’t help thinking “WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT???” Thank Og he lives about as far away as he can possibly get and still be in the same country. I just don’t know how to feel about the situation.
Fire season is way scary; I hope your friends and their critters stay out of harm’s way.
My daughter and her boyfriend are having a house built in Colorado Springs. This was the view out of the kitchen window last Tuesday. They won’t be able to close until the fire is completely out, because no insurance company will bind the property with an active fire that close. Fortunately, as of this morning, it is 85% contained.
Arrrghhhh… apologies for multiple posts in a row (stupid edit window).
To the drivers in north VA and DC… FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, STOP GETTING INTO ACCIDENTS. In the past six months, accidents in my county have increased 32% over the same time period last year. Neighboring county- up 26%. In a 75-day period, there were SIX DAYS when there wasn’t an accident that caused major delays. YOU ARE MAKING IT HARD FOR ME TO GET TO WORK ON TIME. This pisses me and my bosses off. I know the construction is scary, I know that you REALLY want to get to where you’re going, but PLEASE… stop trying to kill yourself and everyone else. Particularly the motorcyclists, who caused two really horrific accidents two days apart (and who, sadly, both died).
If he had to seek out a new email for you or look you up professionally in LinkedIn, or if he personalized the message himself, then yeah, probably tried to get back in touch.
However, if you have the same email address and it was standard request template text, he may have just clicked the wrong box (which I believe is “yes, do this” by default in LinkedIn) that sends invitations to his entire address book from his yahoo! account or something similar.
Her original post was the “My baby hasn’t been sick at all, and I haven’t taken her for any well-baby checks or for her vaccinations, but she has a little rash right now that I’m bringing her to get checked out, and I’m afraid the doctor will give me a hard time about not vaccinating. I just don’t feel like I should, even though I vaccinated the others. Thoughts?” type of post. I replied with a lot of stuff about herd immunity and what’s going on in the UK right now and links that you’ve posted in the past. Don’t know if it got through at all… she said she was going to try to get a copy of your book from the library.
That link is a cesspool of seriously stupid comments. Cia Parker is the friggin Cynthia Parker idiot who has been making stupid comments on the book on Amazon for months. She has MS and blames vaccines. She defends Wakefield and whale to while steadfastly insisting that my co-author and I are being paid off by pharm companies.
Give a few hours to see what else I can dig up. I will be happy to answer her questions if she wants to contact me here or on Facebook. I happen to know about HPV because one of my best friend’s sisters was infected with it. And then had a hysterectomy at 32 as a result.
Maybe you can teach her the concept of Healthy Selfishness - maybe the most accessible example of this is that you put your own oxygen mask on first in a plane so that you stay conscious to help everyone else. You can’t help anyone else when you’re crashing yourself - sometimes you just have to look after yourself for a while so that you have the strength and resources to do the rest of the things you need to do.
Would you mind starting a thread on refuting the HPV claims with what you dig up? I’d like to bookmark it for future reference.
OMG, how scary!!! Thank goodness its pretty much contained. From what I know of wildfires, when they are over 80% contained, the fire crews are usually driving the fire away from structures.
I’m sorry that they can’t close, but I do understand why no insurance will bind them. During that year that I worked for an insurance agent, I’d get a couple of calls a month from someone who had just gotten into an at fault accident and would want to buy insurance. The call was usually something like this “Hey, I just got in an accident and the cops say that they are going to take my car unless I have insurance. Can I pay with my credit card and can you make the insurance card say I bought it yesterday?” :smack::smack::smack:
From what I know about Prescott, there has been no property damage and nobody has been hurt. I was mostly upset because of all of the idiot finger pointing bloggers who were not letting the support/offers to help messages be seen.
I just learned that one can strap a bale of hay onto the back of a Harley and ride said unbalanced bike past cops. Tony didn’t need to do that, my friends wouldn’t let their horses get hungry. They are pets. Probably very overfed pets now, but they know Tony and can deal with him.
One thing that’s suspicious about the article is that it’s circulating four years AFTER the scientist is alleged to have “come clean” about her so-called guilt.
Preach, sista. I don’t know how much more evidence people need before they pull their heads out of their asses.
We don’t do that here. Parents get their children vaccinated, and while public schools do require vaccination, Gardasil isn’t one of them and it’s ludicrously easy to obtain a “philosophical” exemption. Which is why I argue that all states should follow Mississippi’s and West Virginia’s lead (in this situation) and do away with all but legitimate medical exemptions.
