I haven’t been purely pro nuke since the 70s. I’m still in favor of nuclear reactors aboard US Navy ships, but the Navy has backed down from them. A meltdown two miles below the surface still isn’t nice, but the damage is limited to the immediate area for a while at least.
At first I became concerned about the lack of long term plans for the waste. Then I came to accept that the technology is unsafe for the workers and people living around the plants. I have always been skeptical about who much the industry and government lies to us about the safety record of nuclear power, but I’m always uncovering more about just how dishonest and unforthcoming they are.
