My mom has a sick cat right now (kidney issues) and we’ve had sick animals in the past (two cases of cancer, one was going through old age decline complicated by diabetes, and another right now has dementia).
Every last time someone will tell/insinuate that I should give RAW/BARF/Prey Model Diets a try. Even though the animal’s issue is not in any way, shape or form related to food. All of the animals, including the cat, were older (9-13) when diagnosed.
People acted like if I fed the dog or cat one of those diets it would magically be cured and running around like a puppy or kitten again.
Right now I have someone telling me my mom should feed her cat a Prey Model diet using a mix in that costs $35 for a 7.9oz bag, plus the cost of the meat.
Yeah, it’s definitely not a cure for cancer or dementia or other illnesses. It certainly doesn’t reverse aging. It’s stupid for someone to suggest it would.
Skin and digestive issues might be helped by switching diet, as was the case for my shepherd/pit bull mix when we went to raw from kibble.
